Before riveting the right side panel, I spend most of today going over the prints to get familiar with part relationships.
I clecoed the firewall, sides and bottom to check for fits. Some of the gear angle brackets needed trimming on the ends to allow clearance for the gear attach angles that are inserted between the gear brackets and the fuselage verticals.
Worked on fitting the firewall corner brackets. Besides trimming the bracket pairs to fit to each other, some trimming is needed to fit them nicely to the longerons and cross angles.
The two clecoed holes on the gear angle in image #2 need to be drilled for AN3 bolts (3/16). The whole mockup exercise today was to figure out a way to drill these holes. I don't have an angled drill small enough to drill these in place, at least the bottom ones. I'm thinking I can remove the skin panels and at least drill the upper holes. I can clamp the parts with the one bolt and cleco in place, remove the clamped assembly, remove the cleco, and drill the second hole. To keep the aft portion of the front box aligned, I mated it to the rear cone. Fit was right on.
